Stranraer heralds the beginning of the A75 trunk road that stretches through almost the entire length of Dumfries and Galloway, connecting Stranraer to Dumfries and beyond.
From the east
On entering Stranraer, via the A75, travel 0.7miles then turn right onto Stair Drive. After 0.1miles turn left onto Cairnryan Road and take the 3rd exit at the roundabout to remain on Cairnryan Rd. Continue onto Harbour Street for 0.4miles then at the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto Market Street. Stranraer Oyster Festival will be on your right.
From the north
If you are travelling from Ayr/Girvan on the A77, this road leads along the coast with the sea on your right, bringing you directly into Stranraer town centre. On entering the town, remain on Cairnryan Rd (A77) and take the 3rd exit at the roundabout. Continue onto Harbour Street for 0.4miles then at the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto Market Street and Stranraer Oyster Festival will be on you right.
Stranraer has five public car parks, all of which are located within a 10 minute walk to the festival grounds. Please be aware that some locations have restrictions on length of stay and require the display of a parking disc.

Stranraer Station is located only a short 10 minute walk from the festival site. On exiting the station follow the road for approximately ¼ mile until you reach the junction facing The North West Castle Hotel. Turn right onto Cairnryan Rd and follow the road, keeping right at the roundabout leading onto Harbour Street. Follow Harbour Street until you reach a second roundabout where the entrance to the festival site will be on your right.
From Dumfries: The Stagecoach 500/X75 operates a regular timetabled service between Dumfries to Stranraer.
From Glasgow/Ayr/Girvan: The Stagecoach 58/358/60/360/X77 operates a regular timetabled service.
From Portpatrick: The Stagecoach 367 operates a regular timetabled service between Portpatrick to Stranraer.
